"They're here!"

Today we were off to experience the history of the Polynesian Islands at the Polynesian Culture Center in Laie.  Traversing across Oahu we were able to see more of the rural parts of the island.  It was a pretty drive.
We were first thinking that the Polynesian cultural center was probably a tourist trap created to make money by a CEO, similar to EPCOT.  However, we were very happy to find out the center is associated with BYU.  It is a non profit who gives all of their profit to the college and scholarships.
The day was pretty fun.  We learned about the different Polynesian islands and their culture and practices.  We also got to try our hand at some of them.  You can see our efforts below.

If I look cute will the fire light itself?
We have smoke, but no fire

I am actually allowed to throw a sharp stick?
Trust me I am a better Doctor than spear thrower

Climbing for coconuts, might be here for awhile

The cultural center has a luau at night.  We had some good roasted pig and fruits.  After the Luau we left to pick up Jaron and Christina with a traditional lei greeting at the airport.  Once we picked up their bags, and returned the carry-on Jaron "accidentally" took from another passenger we headed home.  Tomorrow we are getting up early to spend the day at Pearl Harbor.
