Na Pali Coast & Waimea Canyon

Waterfall along the Na Pali Coast

Today we had quite the adventure.  We saw the Na Pali Coast!  There are a few ways to see it: by water, helicopter, or by foot.  This breathtaking area is not accessible by land vehicles.  The opening waterfall scenes from Jurassic Park and many other movie scenes were filmed here.  We decided to ride a zodiac raft with Na Pali Riders to view the area.  The ride was very rough and very fun.  Our first stop was an area that hundreds of spinner dolphins like to gather.  They swam all around our raft.  Some of the youngsters started showing off.

We then entered a few caves.  This was a surreal experience.

We then road up the coast, the contrast of the steep mountains and cliffs adjacent to the ocean was awe-inspiring.  Pictures can describe the beauty much better than we can with words:

After the raft tour, we took a detour on the way back to our hotel.  We headed up some steep mountains in our Dodge Caliber to experience the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," Waimea Canyon.

Once we made it back to our hotel, after Pat did some waterfall modeling...

we took a few laps on the hotels slide:

For dinner we enjoyed some spicy Asian cuisine.  To Pat's dismay, they did not have coke, sweet tea, unsweet tea, or Mountain Dew!!  We will be writing a letter to the Hyatt Regency. ;-)  After dinner we had our free bottle of champagne and complimentary dessert for celebrating our delayed honeymoon.

We are looking forward to lying by the pool under a cabana on our last day in Kauai tomorrow.
